INON UK Instructor Films For Hit Channel Five TV Show - Sam Read, INON UK Underwater Photography Instructor

Sam Read, 21, was the underwater director and cameraman for episode three, season three, of hit Five TV docusoap “Gibraltar – Britain in the Sun”. Sam has worked with INON UK as an assistant underwater photography instructor - trainer for some time. Sam, who also worked on season two of the series, was behind the camera filming sequences following Gibraltarian spearfishermen Aaron Baglietto and Shane Shacaluga . Sam made an 80 minute dive to record the highly accomplished breaholders during three minute descents to nearly 20 metres. In reality Shane and Aaron can dive very much deeper, but the location was chosen for ease of filming and somewhat confined their talents!

Sam used a Sony EX1R broadcast camera in a Gates housing and was equipped with an Ocean Technology System Guardian full-face mask with SSB 2010 radiophone and a switching block for air management of his dual cylinders. This equipment, as per the previous two series was supplied by Dave Blackham of Esprit Films. Esprit provides a specialist equipment rental service to the broadcast industry and include INON Z-240 strobes and INON video lights in their rental fleet.

To direct Aaron and Shane, OTS RX100 listen only units proved invaluable as they enabled Sam to talk to them during their freedives.

Later episodes feature filming by INON UK co–owner Steve Warren following the self styled Jolly Boys on further diving misadventures!
