FREE Improve Your Underwater Photography Presentation at City Divers, London
DIVER Magazine contributor and INON UK co-owner Steve Warren will be giving a free talk for divers struggling to take pleasing underwater photographs. Why Auto Doesn’t Work and Other Underwater Photography Untruths is aimed at beginners who are confused by increasingly complex camera settings and are unsure which they should be using under water.

Steve will discuss some of the assumptions divers make about taking underwater photographs that often lead to disaster. Beginning with a review of why water itself is so difficult to take pictures in compared to air, Steve will set the scene for how to use your underwater camera to take better pictures. He’s going to explain why using automatic camera settings will, at best, often yield a mediocre image and, at worst, just a blurry green blob. Steve will demystify the camera jargon and will show you how using just a handful of camera controls manually can make underwater photography easy, successful and rewarding. Steve will also talk about basic underwater strobe photography and proper lighting with a single strobe, as well as explaining why a video light is for video and a strobe is for stills. There will be an opportunity for attendees to bring their laptops with up to ten pictures for an individual debrief with Steve after the talk.

The talk is being held in conjunction with City Divers, the dive centre owned by newspaper and diving journalist Mick Hamilton. City Divers is one of the longest established scuba schools in London. This year, INON UK will be working closely with Mick to offer a range of INON UK underwater photography courses, overseas trips and equipment sales.

The presentation takes place on Thursday, April 27th at KPMG , 15 Canada Square, London, E14 5GL. Talk will start at 18:00. End time will be about 21:00. Delegates must email to reserve their place.
